Sing and Shout is a song I wrote to encourage family worship at my church and to help all ages to engage with the simple message of the gospel. Before starting to write this song, I was struck by how few family worship songs celebrate what Jesus has done for us. We sing many family worship songs about God’s greatness, strength and faithfulness but not many about the power of the cross and our redemption through Jesus. So I wanted our church family to be able to praise God together and celebrate the simple yet wonderful truth of Jesus and his unchanging love for us. Inspired by this I began to write a chorus...

So I sing and shout cos’ God loves me // He sent His only Son to set me free // All my wrongs have been forgiven // God loves me // I clap my hands and dance around // For love has called my name and I’ve been found // By Jesus I know God loves me!

Sometimes we need to strip everything back and rejoice in the simple truth that God loves us, He sent His only Son to bring us salvation by forgiving all our sins on the cross and He will never stop loving us.
